Whooo WorldCon.

Okay. I left home Tuesday, got into Dublin Wednesday, found out we couldn’t check in yet, went to a ship museum to kill time, I fell asleep in the hotel lobby before we got our room, and staggered out to meet people for Wednesday dinner after a long nap.

The con started Thursday and that has been pretty much my entire focus except for time carved out for (1) meals, (2) the LOML who is not attending the con, and (3) seeing people who are usually in entirely different countries from me. Usually these overlap some.

I am having a fantastic time and have written one of my pens completely dry; I have 24 handwritten pages of panel notes. I also have way fewer new books than I was worried I might end up with; I am trying to be mindful about that, bluntly, and it seems to be going okay.

I got a Seanan McGuire book and an Alex Wells book signed. The weather has finally stopped being gross. I have so many fantastic new recs and some bubbling ideas. I have met some fantastic people. I am getting up on Dublin time, but appear to be going to sleep on EST, and am really hoping I can fix this soon. And I am glad.

Writing might happen later. For now, I have dropped $2.09 on a post-apocalyptic Steam game and am living my best life with some coffee.

pay bills

maybe weed the back yard (the humidity has it being over 40C/104F today and possibly tomorrow, there’s a limit to how much outside time I’m willing to deal with)

see friends for dinner

do all the laundry

provide story crit

break 10,000 words on that damn novella

resign from a time commitment

clear out twenty emails

update my Hugo voting

finish a book

Alright. Those are things like progress.

Okay, so far:

edit 150 pages - maybe? 2/5ths of the way done, but currently on hold while I see about a less painful file format to work with.

go running

buy a phone case

pay bills

maybe weed the back yard (the humidity has it being over 40C/104F today and possibly tomorrow, there’s a limit to how much outside time I’m willing to deal with) - yep, nope, the humidex hit 45 (which is 113 in Farenheit). Not this weekend.

Damning the season

It is summer.

By 5:30 in the morning, the daylight in the bedroom is bright enough to comfortably read.

Can I sleep through this? I can. Can I get back to sleep in this once the pets have woken me up? I cannot.

I made it to Ikea. I have blackout curtains. I have a curtain rod and brackets. I even have hemming tape.

I swear by sleep deprivation, summer cursing, and the high holy productivityhour that I am getting those goddamn curtains hung today.
