Fic Meme: Last Ten First Lines
Rules: Post the first line of your last 10 published fics, then tag 10 people. I was kindly tagged bysophiainspace , and was dragging my feet in the hopes I’d get something new finished and up, but good-is-good-but-done-is-better.
So. Most recent first, fics are complete one-shots unless noted otherwise.
1. Snip.
“Love, Committed.” - Megan Lockhart and James Jesse, discussing their son. Mind the tags.
2. Axel was fine.
“Security” - Axel and Hartley. Fluff, sick!fic.
3. “So how’s it going with the guy whose name you won’t tell me?”
“May the Bridges I Burn Light the Way” - Axel not trusting Hartley’s apology gesture of reconciliation and applying a little stress-testing. Probably shouldn’t have done that in front of Len. 7 chapters, complete.
4. “It’s customary for people seeking redundancy to try for a belt and suspenders.”
“Stitches” - PipeBomb, 5+1, fluff, dialogue-heavy, about clothes.
5. There was a heist today and if Trish hadn’t been stuck at work into the afternoon she’d have actually been waiting to catch a bus in front of the bank and she might have actually seen them so she’s tired and mad because she missed that, and now all she can find out is that there’s a bunch of pictures of SWAT-type guys in camo around the bank and the Rogues have cleared out and it just– it sucks, okay?
“A Little Trouble” - a couple of Rogue fans meet Axel and Hartley. Tension ensues. 4 chapters, complete.
6. Hartley could sleep through what was, by his lights, a truly prodigious amount of noise.
“The elimination of possibilities, the drawing of conclusions.” - Axel sleepwalks when he’s stressed.
7. They put him and Zoey in the back of a police car.
“The Madness of Cuckoos” - Axel and Zoey after their escape. If the writers won’t reconcile conflicting backstories, I damn well will. Mind the tags.
8. The man had a grin like a rat trap, no sense of personal space, and a knife.
“Misery Acquaints” - Hartley meets Axel. Axel meets the Snarts. 2 chapters, complete.
9. It’s dark and not-really-quiet, but the playlist’s switched to something that’s as mellow as Axel ever gets, this pulsy kind of electronic track.
“Boundaries” - PipeBomb, post-sex discussion.
10. Thea cancelled just at the start of the afternoon.
“Dinner. Not a date.” - Hartley invites Axel out to dinner.
